Reaves registered three hits and a shot on net in St. Louis' 5-2 win over Chicago on Wednesday. He had 6:11 time on ice while skating on the Blues' fourth line.
EDGE Analysis
There was some talk during the preseason about making the fourth line a speedier unit, but head coach Ken Hitchcock trotted out the team's biggest agitator in Wednesday's season opener. With the Blues having lost a couple of physical players like David Backes and Troy Bouwer in the offseason, it makes sense to have Reaves playing ahead of guys like Ty Rattie or Magnus Paarjarvi, though there may be matchups where the coach favors the quicker wingers. Reaves was second on the Blues in hits last season, finishing behind Backes.
