Nugent-Hopkins will have surgery on his hand.
EDGE Analysis
Nugent-Hopkins injured the hand while blocking a shot Monday and now isn't expected to return to the team until March at the earliest. An optimist will tell you that the Oilers are somewhat deep at center but it has to be frustrating for the organization to constantly lose top six forward to long term injuries. When Nugent-Hopkins returns, it likely won't be as the number one center as that is expected to belong to Connor McDavid as soon as he returns from his broken collarbone in early February.
