Montoya stopped 18 of 20 shots in Sunday's exhibition win over the Predators.
EDGE Analysis
The two teams were playing with split squads as part of a doubleheader Sunday, so Montoya wasn't exactly matching up against Nashville's "A" team. That said, he turned in a capable performance and should continue to see extended action in the preseason while the Panthers look to preserve Roberto Luongo for the games that count in the standings. Montoya should be locked in as Luongo's backup goalie throughout the season, but his middling ratios in 2014-15 (3.01 GAA, .892 save percentage) should temper enthusiasm about using him as much more than a spot-starting option.
