Kennedy is fighting for a roster spot after signing a PTO earlier in September. It's unknown what the personal matter is, but Kennedy will need to get back on the ice if he wants to make the team. He had 14 points in 38 NHL games last season, split between the Sharks and the Islanders and is a hard-nosed grinder whose value comes not from the points he scores but for his willingness to forecheck and scrap in the corners.
