Kapanen lit the lamp once and helped on another in Toronto's 8-1 preseason victory over Buffalo on Friday.

Kapanen, at only 20 years old, figures to begin the season at AHL but if Friday's performance is any indication, it shouldn't be long before the No. 22 overall pick in the 2014 draft finds his way onto the Leafs' permanent NHL roster. If he indeed gets sent down to AHL, he'll rejoin the Marlies where he scored nine goals and dished out 16 assists in 44 games last season.
