Kane (upper body) was attempting slap shots during Tuesday's practice, a sign he's taken another step forward in the recovery process, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports. Kane had previously been limited to firing off wrist shots during practices, but the fact that he was taking one-timers during Tuesday's session suggests he's progressed further from the broken clavicle. At this point, the question isn't whether or not Kane will beat the 12-week recovery timetable initially outlined for him Feb. 24; it's how much sooner than the 12 weeks he'll be ready to go. Kane's next barrier to cross will be taking part in full-contact practice, which could come as soon as April 13. A return in the first or second round of the postseason may yet be feasible.
