Kane (upper body) has been shut down for the rest of the season, reports Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News.
EDGE Analysis
It was a tough first season in Buffalo for Kane, who battled various injuries, a few off-ice incidents and came well short of scoring 40 goals, which he was aiming to do. Instead, he'll finish the season with 20 goals and 35 points in 65 games, despite averaging a career-high 21 minutes per game. The Sabres should improve by leaps and bounds next year in Year 2 of the Jack Eichel era, so Kane remains a promising player to have next season. He's under contract with Buffalo for the next two seasons at an annual cap hit of $5,250,000.
