Brett Lebda signed a professional tryout agreement with AHL Binghamton Tuesday. "It's just for depth," said Ottawa coach Paul MacLean. "We've got three of Binghamton's defensemen here (Andre Benoit, Patrick Wiercioch and Mark Borowiecki) and they've got injuries down there. You can never have enough defensemen, as you can see with us know. Our weight room, our medical room, is a defenseman's lounge right now, so we need some of them on the ice." Lebda skated in 30 games with Columbus last season and he doesn't have any fantasy value even if he eventually makes his way back to the NHL.
