An attorney for the woman alleging that Kane sexually assaulted her in early August said Wednesday that DNA evidence in the case was tampered with, Jared S. Hopkins of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The accuser's attorney, Thomas J. Eoannou, had scheduled a press conference in Buffalo to respond to a report that surfaced over the past weekend that suggested DNA evidence didn't confirm his client's allegations against Kane. During the conference, Eoannou claimed that the accuser's rape kit was mailed in a brown bag to her mother's doorstep, containing the accuser's name and initials from the nurse who collected evidence at the hospital. Authorities have yet to confirm Eoannou's allegations, which the lawyer called the "worst case of victim blaming I've ever seen." Expect the representatives of Kane, who has yet to be charged for any crime in connection with the sexual assault investigation, to respond to Eoannou's claims in the coming days. Kane continues to practice with the Blackhawks and made his preseason debut Tuesday night, but it doesn't appear that a resolution to the allegations will be reached in the near future.
