Eric Belanger recorded an assist on Thursday. Belanger now has two points in 13 games in 2013. He missed eight days earlier this season due to a couple of broken toes.

Look for Eric Belanger to be back in the Edmonton lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jackets. The Oilers have reportedly sent Chris VandeVelde back to Oklahoma City of the AHL, which is a pretty clear indication that the fourth line center's broken toes have healed enough for him to return.

The Edmonton Oilers have placed Eric Belanger on the injured reserve list after he suffered foot injury Saturday. It was a tough day for Belanger who also cut his arm while blocking a shot. He finished the game after being injured in the first period. He did not take his skate off as he knew his foot would swell up and he wouldn't be able to put it back on. In any case, Belanger is out of action for a bit of time.

Eric Belanger thinks the CBA negotiations might benefit from a mediator. "Sure, why not?" Belanger said. "Didn't baseball try that? (1994, with Bill Usery). Get somebody in who will at least say, 'I'm going to hear you, and we're going to split (the difference) and make some decision.'" The possibility of a mediator is something that both sides seem tentatively open to, but it's not clear if they will actually have one. As it stands right now though, the regular season is in jeopardy and we don't seem to be moving towards a new CBA.

Eric Belanger is confident that a resolution to the CBA can be reached and he believes that a potential lockout won't last that long. "So my Plan B is to wait. With young kids, it is different," he said. "Back then, I had one child and she was just a year and a half old. There was no school to worry about. And I do think if there is a lockout, I don't think it's going to be as long as the last one." He isn't happy about being back in this situation after living through the canceled season in 2004-05, but he is preparing for training camp. Belanger had a career-low four goals and 16 points in 78 games last season, so he is also anxious to get back on track.

Eric Belanger returned to action on Saturday January 21.

Eric Belanger sustained a leg injury during Friday's contest. Belanger is expected to skate on Sunday, but he should still be considered questionable for the Oilers' Sunday night contest. He has a goal and 10 points in 43 games this season.
