Booth (lower body) has shed his walking boot, Sportsnet's David Alter reports. Booth is still expected to miss a few more weeks because he has not skated in a while, but with him out of his boot, he can start doing more extensive rehab work. He was able to get some work in on the Maple Leafs' shooting practice machine Thursday.

Booth (lower body) will likely require a full six weeks to recover from injury, and perhaps even longer, TSN's Mark Masters reports. The Leafs were optimistic that Booth would be back in as few as four weeks after suffering a broken foot Sept. 28, but his slow progress has prompted the Leafs to push that timetable back some more. Mid-November now looks like a more realistic return date for the winger, who probably isn't worth stashing until that time in most formats.

Booth exited Sunday's exhibition game with a lower body injury and will not return. It's not clear what type of injury Booth is dealing with, so it's not clear how long he will be out. Expect an update on his status as more details become available.

David Booth is extremely excited about the one-year, $1.1 million contract he recently signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Booth put up 31 goals and 29 assists (60 points) in 72 games for the Panthers in 2008-09, earning a lucrative six-year contract. He was traded to Vancouver on Oct. 22, 2011 and missed 78 games with knee, ankle and groin injuries. The 29-year-old finished last season with six points in his final 10 games.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed David Booth to a one-year, $1.1 million contract. There was a time when Booth was a safe bet to score over 20 goals and 40 points per season. However, that's when he was logging 18-plus minutes per game in Florida, which ended with his acquisition by the Vancouver Canucks. Booth never fit in with Vancouver and his problems were amplified by a series of injuries. A fresh start is exactly what Booth needs, but he's far from a safe bet to capitalize on this opportunity.

David Booth went unclaimed on waivers. With that done, the Vancouver Canucks will now buy out the final season of Booth's contract. Booth wasn't able to establish himself as a top-six forward with Vancouver and the fact that he dealt with injuries didn't help. If he can find a team that will give him an opportunity on one of their top two lines, then he might bounce back in 2014-15. If nothing else, he's worth keeping an eye on to see where he ends up.
