Winnik (upper body) will play Saturday against the Red Wings, Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun reports. Winnik was removed late in Friday's contest after blocking a shot, but will be able to tough it out for Saturday's rematch with Detroit. He's compiled one point and four penalty minutes in five games this season, his first with the Leafs.

Winnik left Friday's game with an upper body injury, TSN's Jonas Siegel reports. He blocked a shot in the third period before leaving and should be considered day-to-day for now.

"It seemed to get everyone going," Winnik said. "It was desperation."
