Girardi underwent a bursa excision surgery on his ankle and should be recovered for training camp.

This probably isn't any reason to worry about Girardi's ankle in the 2015-'16 season. The injury wasn't considered serious and surgery will likely decrease risk.

Girardi played the final three games of the Eastern Conference Final with a Grade 1 MCL sprain.

The Rangers' defensive corps was incredibly banged up by the end of their playoff run, with Ryan McDonagh, Marc Staal, and Keith Yandle all playing through injury at some point during the post season. Girardi's ailment, however, isn't considered to be too serious, and he should be ready for the Rangers' training camp in September.

Girardi was credited with an assist on Derek Stepan's overtime game-winner in Wednesday's series-clinching Game 7 victory over the Capitals.

Stepan collected the rebound on Girardi's point shot and put the puck past Caps goalie Braden Holtby to send the Rangers to their second consecutive Eastern Conference Finals. It goes down as the only point of the series for Girardi, who offset the lack of offensive activity by leading the Rangers in blocked shots (25) during the seven-game set.

Girardi assisted on both of the team's goals and skated a game-high 26:06 in Monday's Game 4 win over the Penguins.

Girardi took a puck to the face toward the end of Game 1 but has shown no ill effects since then as he skated for over 20 minutes in Game 2 and blew past his season average of 22:42 worth of ice time in Monday's win. The blueliner generally isn't much of a factor on the scoresheet, but he's now tallied three points in the playoffs to go along with a pair of points down the stretch run of the regulation season.

Girardi (face) skated 20:20 in Saturday's Game 2 loss to the Penguins, finishing the night with five hits and three blocked shots.

Girardi was forced to leave Thursday's Game 1 win after taking a puck to the face, but he never seemed at much risk of missing Game 2 after practicing Friday. Though he might still be experiencing some residual pain, Girardi won't be at risk of missing any further first-round action.

Girardi (face) took part in practice Friday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.

Girardi took a puck to the jaw Thursday and departed the game. However, he appears to have avoided a major injury, as he was on the ice Friday without any extra protection. Expect him to play in Game 2 on Saturday as the Rangers look to go up 2-0 on Pittsburgh.

Girardi took a puck to the face and departed Thursday's Game 1 against Pittsburgh in the third period.

It looked like the puck got Girardi in the jaw, and he may have taken a high stick as well. It's unclear how serious the injury is, but it appeared initially that Girardi avoided anything major. We'll look for an update after the game if he's unable to return.

Girardi scored a goal in Monday's 4-3 overtime victory.

Look out, the mostly quiet Girardi has a goal and an assist in his last two contests. The veteran blue liner has now managed to notch seven 20-point campaigns in his nine year career. With Girardi's specialty being blocked shots (three on Monday) and a few rare cameos on the team's second power play unit we're not really recommending this will continue, but it's nice to see for more unique fantasy format owners.

Girardi (arm) will play Saturday against the Bruins, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.

Girardi was forced out the Rangers' last game on Thursday against the Senators after suffering a gash to his arm when he was struck by a puck. He required stitches to patch up the wound, but it sounds as though it won't limit him at all in Saturday's game. He'll skate next to Ryan McDonagh on the Rangers' top defensive pairing.
