MacArthur will be in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs, Mark Masters of TSN reports.

As was expected after the team cleared him to play Friday, MacArthur will skate on the Sens' second line in his first game since leaving a Feb. 16 contest with the head injury. The timing for MacArthur's return is quite fortunate for the Senators, as the team lost another top-six winger in Milan Michalek to a concussion last weekend.

MacArthur (concussion) was cleared to return to the lineup Saturday against the Maple Leafs, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports. The Senators officially activated him from injured reserve Friday, according to the NHL's official media site.

After practicing with the Senators on Friday and receiving clearance to travel with the team to Toronto, MacArthur learned that he passed the concussion test he took Thursday, which was the final hurdle he needed to clear in order to play again. Coach Dave Cameron didn't formally announce that MacArthur would return to the lineup Saturday, and with the Senators kicking off a back-to-back set, it's possible the team holds him out until Sunday's home date with the Panthers. However, with the injuries to both Milan Michalek and Matt Puempel compromising the Senators' depth on the wing, it seems more likely than not that MacArthur checks back in Saturday.

MacArthur is targeting a return to action this weekend.

MacArthur, who continues to inch toward a return, isn't a candidate to suit up Thursday against the Rangers, but a return as soon as Saturday (against the Maple Leafs) or Sunday (against the Panthers) looks plausible for the forward, assuming he passes all his concussion tests, as hoped.

MacArthur (concussion) practiced with the full team Wednesday, Dean Brown of TSN 1200 reports.

MacArthur has now practiced three times since receiving clearance from doctors to begin skating with the team again. While he wasn't participating in line rushes and thus figures to be unavailable for Thursday's game against the Rangers, MacArthur appears on track to suit up for one or both of the Senators' weekend contests.

MacArthur (concussion) skated as an extra forward at Saturday's morning session, Dean Brown of TSN 1200 reports.

MacArthur resumed skating a few days ago, but had been limited to working out by himself rather than with the rest of the team. He still hasn't been cleared for contact and thus remains under the concussion protocol, but it seems increasingly likely that he'll be able to return before the regular season draws to a close.

MacArthur (concussion) skated by himself Sunday, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.

MacArthur hasn't played since suffering a concussion Feb. 16, but has finally returned to the ice in some capacity. While he's likely still a ways off from returning to the lineup, he's at least making progress. The next step would be a return to practice and being cleared to play.

Coach Dave Cameron confirmed Friday that MacArthur's upper-body injury has been diagnosed as a concussion, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.MacArthur's concussion stems from a collision in Monday's loss to the Hurricanes with teammate Robin Lehner, who was also diagnosed with the head injury and placed on injured reserve. Concussions typically result in volatile recovery timetables depending on the severity of the injury as well as the player's own personal history, so it's tough to speculate on when MacArthur's activation might come. In the meantime, he'll remain under the league's concussion protocol, keeping him off the ice until further notice.
