Porter was hoping to complete a return to St. Louis after spending the 2015-16 campaign with the Wild, but was unable to secure a permanent deal. Given the depth along the left side, the 32-year-old was always a long shot for a spot on the roster. Given his minimal offensive production, fantasy owners are unlikely to be impacted by this move.

Porter is likely a long shot to make the roster as he has never reached the 10-point mark in any season during his career and the Blues brought in five other player on PTOs. In terms of fantasy value, at best the winger could tally hits, as he notched 157 in 61 contests for the Wild last season, but otherwise is extremely limited in what he can offer.

With just seven points in 61 games and an average ice time of 9:38 this season, it'd be a stretch to expect much more of this from the 31-year-old, but the postseason is a time of improbable heroes and Porter was just that Monday.
