Orpik recorded an assist and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 5-0 victory over the Kings.
EDGE Analysis
The shutdown defenseman continues to have a resurgent 2016-17 campaign after missing 41 games with a lower-body injury last season. He has a modest 12 points in 53 games, but is sixth in the league in plus/minus with a plus-29 rating. His proficiency in peripheral stats like hits and blocked shots give him some value in deeper leagues.

Orpik picked up an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 loss against the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
The 36-year-old has exceeded his point total from last season with his 11th point in 50 games thus far in 2016-17. More impressive is his plus-27 rating, good for fifth best in the NHL. Orpik has a decent amount of value in deeper leagues that emphasize hits and blocked shots despite his third-pairing minutes, but his fantasy value remains fairly limited in most formats.

Orpik pulled into the All-Star break with no goals and 10 assists over 49 games with a plus-27.
EDGE Analysis
Orpik cannot be counted upon by fantasy owners to post much in the way of offense, but he is an asset in the plus-minus category. He also ranks 26th in the NHL with 120 hits. The veteran has logged 73 blocked shots, so can help in deeper pools in that category, too.

Orpik recorded and assist in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
The rugged defenseman is having an excellent start to the season by his standards with three assists in 11 games which has him on pace to top the 10 points he notched in last season's injury-shortened campaign. However, his lack of offense and reduced minutes (16:44 this year, down from 19:49 in 2015-16) limit his upside only to deeper leagues that count peripheral stats like hits and blocked shots until further notice.

Orpik's two helpers led all Capitals defensemen in a 4-0 win over the Islanders on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Orpik scored just 10 points last year, but offense has never been his strong suit. He notched the second assist on Andre Burakovsky's first-period goal and then got a lucky bounce on his second assist when he threw the puck at the net and had the rebound fall right onto Lars Eller's stick. With the emergence of Dmitry Orlov, Orpik is a depth defenseman with little upside and isn't worth a roster spot in fantasy in any format.

Orpik had three goals and 10 points in 41 games while missing half the season with a cracked femur, Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington reports.
EDGE Analysis
Orpik also sustained a concussion and a neck injury during the first round matchup against the Flyers and was suspended for three games following a late hit on Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta. It's been a trying season for the shutdown defenseman who look to bounce back in 2016-17.

Orpik (suspension) has served out his three-game ban and is set to return to the lineup for Tuesday's Game 6 matchup with Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Orpik was assessed his suspension for targeting the head of Penguins' defender Olli Maatta. It was clear the Capitals were missing Orpik's veteran leadership as two games were lost based on errors by his replacements. In terms of fantasy production, the 35-year-old was a relative non-factor in Games 1 and 2 as he failed to register a point and added just two PIM and five blocked shots in those contests.

Orpik will be suspended three games for his hit on Pittsburgh's Olli Maatta in Saturday's Game 2.
EDGE Analysis
Already sporting a history of questionable hits, Orpik picked a bad time for his clear infraction against Maatta. Orpik previously missed the final three games of Washington's first-round series against the Flyers with an upper body injury. Mike Weber may rejoin the lineup for Monday's Game 3.

Orpik will have a disciplinary hearing after interfering with Pittsburgh's Olli Maatta in Saturday's Game 2.
EDGE Analysis
Around two-full seconds after Maatta had already released the puck, Orpik came bearing down on the Pittsburgh defender and proceeded to drill him in the head with an elbow. It will be shocking if Orpik isn't suspended, especially since this is hardly the first time the American defender has delivered a questionable hit to an opponent (Loui Eriksson in 2013 and Dan Boyle in 2015 are some examples). The hearing will likely occur some time Sunday or early Monday, allowing the league to give a verdict before Game 3.

Orpik (upper body) will rejoin the lineup for Thursday's Game 1 matchup with the Penguins, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The one remaining hurdle for Orpik was whether or not he would be medically cleared for game action but it appears that's the case. He's expected to pair with John Carlson for the contest and will look to add to his 10 points through 41 games this season. However, his upside remains somewhat limited by the fact that he doesn't play on the man advantage.
