Brent Johnson doesn't believe his playing days are over, as he continues to work out on the ice during the lockout, but he is interested in becoming a goalie coach and teaching others. "I've kind of been floating the idea of maybe doing a couple of hockey schools here in the area, specifically for goalies," he said. "If anyone from the team wanted to jump on board [and broaden the school's focus], that would be great, while we're all sitting here waiting. If [the season is canceled] or if I don't get a job, I kind of want to put my foot in the door with that kind of thing, just see how I am." He will be looking to get an NHL contract once the lockout is over.

Brent Johnson skated with nine former Pittsburgh teammates at the team's practice facility at Southpointe on Monday. He joined members of the Washington Capitals last month to stay fit and is waiting for a lockout resolution to help get him out of free agent limbo. Johnson is an unrestricted free agent and with the Penguins adding Tomas Vokoun in the off-season, he won't be back with their organization when NHL action resumes.

Brent Johnson has joined the Washington Capitals' locked out players for their practices. Michal Neuvirth left for the Czech League, so they needed a new goaltender. Johnson is an unrestricted free agent after his former club, the Pittsburgh Penguins, traded for Tomas Vokoun over the summer. "I'm up in the air," he said. "We'll see what happens if and when everything starts up. Yeah, I'm concerned, but at my age you start looking at the future and what you're going to do next. Lockout or not, I still would have been in the same spot."

With Tomas Vokoun signed for the next two seasons in Pittsburgh, Brent Johnson is expected to walk as a unrestricted free agent next month. The Penguins wanted to upgrade their backup goalie in the off-season and they have done that by getting Vokoun's rights from the Washington Capitals, for a seventh-round pick, and then locking him up to a new contract. Johnson appeared in 16 games this past campaign behind starter Marc-Andre Fleury, while posting a 6-7-2 record with an .883 save percentage and a 3.11 GAA.

Brent Johnson picked up the win despite giving up one goal on only six shots in a 4-2 win over Philadelphia. Marc-Andre Fleury started for the Penguins and stopped 14 of 15 before coach Dan Bylsma switched netminders to give Johnson some action before the playoffs. He gave up a quick goal to Jaromir Jagr, but was awarded the win. He ends the season with a 6-7-2 mark. He'll only see action in the playoffs if Fleury gets injured.

Brent Johnson will get the start in goal tonight at Boston. After missing more than a month with a knee injury, Johnson make his second start in three games. He and the Penguins defeated Buffalo on the road Friday, 5-3. Tonight will mark Johnson's 14th start this season. He is 3-6-1 with a 3.11 GAA and .891 save percentage.

Brent Johnson saved 25 of 28 shots in a 5-3 victory Friday night. Johnson allowed two goals on 10 shots in the first period. It's entirely possible that Johnson will also start in one of Pittsburgh's remaining four games in an effort to keep Marc-Andre Fleury fresh for the playoffs.

Brent Johnson will be back in Pittsburgh's lineup on Thursday night after being sidelined since Feb. 23 with a knee injury. He will back up Marc-Andre Fleury against the New York Islanders. His return will probably result in Brad Thiessen being returned to the minors soon.

Brent Johnson is very close to being ready to return from his undisclosed injury, which has since been revealed as a knee problem, and he may dress on Thursday. "I'm starting to feel really good," he said after practicing on Wednesday. "There are a few kinks to work out." He wants to start at least one time before the playoffs begin. Johnson has been out of action since Feb. 23.
