The Flames assigned Thiessen to AHL Adirondack on Thursday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet.ca reports. In a corresponding move, the Flames recalled fellow goaltender Joni Ortio to serve as Jonas Hiller's backup while Karri Ramo is out.
