Stuart is dealing with a hamstring issue and could be out for a couple of weeks, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports. Stuart is just one game away from making his 1,000th NHL appearance, but it appears that reaching that milestone could be pushed back for quite some time. The Avalanche have yet to make any blue line call-up to cover for his absence, as it appears the team will wait a few days before determining whether or not Stuart will require a trip to injured reserve.

Stuart could miss some time due to a leg injury he suffered in Tuesday's game, the Denver Post reports. Stuart's status and timetable are still a little cloudy right now, but should be resolved in the future. With him out, Zach Redmond will likely slot in as the sixth defenseman, though the team could make a move to add another for depth.

The Avalanche signed Stuart to a two-year, $7.2 million contract extension Monday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports. The veteran blueliner recorded three goals and eight assists in 61 games with the Sharks last season, and the Avs decided he was worth locking up for two more seasons.

Brad Stuart is finding himself rather healthy in the playoffs thus far. Stuart was injured just before the Olympic break and sat out six weeks, returning on March 24. The long layoff seemed to heal all his injuries and he and the Sharks are now benefiting from the rest as he has been stellar defensively on the blueline for San Jose through the first two games of the playoffs. He has yet to get a point but is plus-four in the early going.

Brad Stuart (upper body) will return to San Jose's lineup in Monday's meeting with Calgary. He has sat out the last 13 games with an upper-body injury after he was hurt on Feb. 7. Stuart is a good source of hits and blocks, but he shouldn't be on your radar if you are looking for points. He is slated to be paired with Justin Braun.

Brad Stuart is getting closer to a return to action. He has been sidelined with an upper-body injury since February 7th but appears to be recovering quickly. He told reporters than there is virtually nothing he is restricted from doing now. Stuart will certainly be back before the playoffs. It is just a question of how many games he will be able to play as a tune up.

Brad Stuart (upper body) participated in the Sharks' Tuesday morning skate. Stuart was hurt on Feb. 7 and hasn't played since. Skating with the Sharks was a big step forward for him, but there's still no firm timetable for his return. The silver lining is that Stuart has been able to use this time on the sidelines to build his strength, which might help him during the playoffs.
