Jones agreed to terms on a deal with the Iserlohn Roosters of the DEL on Monday.

Jones spent the 2015-16 season in the AHL with both the Utica Comets and the Charlotte Checkers as he garnered 13 goals and nine assists in 49 outings. Selected in the fourth round of the 2005 NHL Draft, the center made 132 appearances in the majors but was only able to notch 17 points over that span. It is unlikely the 29-year-old makes his way back to an NHL roster at this point in his career.

The Flyers will be able to move Jones to the AHL squad whenever they choose now that's he's cleared waivers, but it appears the team wants him to stick around a little longer as a contingency plan. Sean Couturier missed Wednesday's practice with a stomach virus, so Jones could be called upon to play Thursday against the Panthers if Couturier is not healthy enough to play by that point.
