Smith was reassigned to AHL San Jose on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Smith cleared waivers Thursday, and the team has decided to no longer hang on to the 27-year-old forward. While he'll go to the AHL affiliate for now, it's quite possible he'll rejoin the team later in the season should injuries occur among the current group of forwards.

Smith cleared waivers Friday, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith has been limited to six games this season with a concussion issue largely attributed to the missed time. It doesn't bode well for Smith that he was waived even with forwards Raffi Torres (knee) and Dainius Zubrus (upper body) ailing for Team Teal. It's not clear what the next step is for Smith, but the 27-year-old could end up in the minors.

Smith was placed on waivers by the Sharks on Wednesday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith has drawn into just six contests for the Sharks this season, and will now presumably go to the AHL assuming he goes through waivers unclaimed. The move could indicate that the Sharks are ready to activate Raffi Torres, though no official move has been made yet.

Smith has been activated off injured reserve and could play Sunday against the Blackhawks, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith has been sidelined since early November due to the head injury, but it appears he may finally over the concussion that sent him to injured reserve. The team hasn't confirmed that he will return to the lineup, but it's a good bet that he'll be in to face his former team, especially following the teams reassignment of Barclay Goodrow to the AHL club in a corresponding move.

Smith (concussion) remains out of the lineup Thursday, Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite being recalled back from his conditioning stint with AHL San Jose, it appears Smith isn't yet ready to rejoin the Sharks at this point. His next chance to play will come Friday against the Senators, but the winger will need to activated from injured reserve before he'll have a chance to rejoin the lineup.

Smith was called up from the minors Tuesday, but remains on injured reserve with a concussion injury, Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith has been out of action for the past 19 games due to concussion symptoms. Despite the injured reserve designation, Smith's call-up suggests that he could be nearing a return to the lineup, possibly as soon as Thursday in Toronto.

Smith has been recalled from the minors, Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith is known as a smooth-skating forward, but he plays far too sparingly to warrant attention in fantasy circles. In the four games he's drawn into so far, the 27-year-old has logged an ice-time average of 6:14.

Smith was reassigned to AHL San Jose for conditioning on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
An assignment to the minors usually comes as bad news to a player, but in Smith's case, the opposite is true. The BC product has been out since November 1 with a concussion, missing 18 games in the process. This reassignment will offer him a chance to get back into game shape ahead of a return to the Sharks.

Smith (head) skated Monday for about 20 minutes, Curtis Pashelka of the Bay Area News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't a particularly long skating session, but it's an encouraging development for Smith, who has been held out over two weeks with a head injury. He remains without a clear timetable at this point, but he'll likely need to get a full practice under his belt before returning.

Smith is out of the lineup was "an apparent head injury," reports CSN Bay Area's Kevin Kurz.
EDGE Analysis
The team would not offer much on Smith's injury with coach Pete DeBoer only telling Kurz that Smith is "not available."
