Vermette has been turning heads recently with nine points in his last five games. Interestingly enough, he was held off the scoresheet in two of those contests (against Vancouver and Colorado), but recorded a two-point effort against Calgary and a four-point explosion against the Panthers. The recent run of production gives the center 33 points in 63 games this year, which is a 40-point pace that's in line with last season's 38-point output. Those in deeper leagues considering making use of Vermette in the final stages of the season, however, should be mindful of his dreadful minus-15 rating, if applicable.

Vermette, who plays on the power play, is worth owning in some deep leagues, but he's been too inconsistent to be trusted in shallower formats.

Vermette has had a quiet year overall, but he's been producing of late, registering three goals and six points in his last eight games. We know what the former 27-goal-scorer is capable of, so given his his role on the first line and top power-play unit, Vermette could be worth looking at in deep leagues right now as long as he stays healthy.

Vermette is finally starting to produce after a very slow start to the season. While he's only got 11 points on the year, the top-line center has put up four goals and eight points in his last 11 games. He's seeing quality power-play time and playing alongside the talented Mikkel Boedker, so if someone gave up on him, he could now be worth looking at, especially if you're in a deeper format.

Vermette ended his five game goalless streak in Sunday's 4-5 loss to Carolina.

Vermette has a meager eight points in 21 games with the Coyotes this season. Two of the veteran's three goals this season have come on the power play, including Sunday's tally. Vermette does not pepper opposing goalies with shots, recording just 20 shots on goal for the year.

EDGE Analysis

Vermette is plus-1 on the season and while that number doesn't jump off the page by any means, it shows that he's starting to tighten up defensively after posting a combined rating of minus-25 last year between the Coyotes and Blackhawks. At 33 years old, Vermette's been an average offensive contributor (seven points in 17 games) and most of the attention seems to be directed at Calder Trophy candidate Max Domi this campaign.

Vermette scored his first two goals of the season in his 15th game, but Arizona's third-line center has continued to see healthy minutes despite his lack of scoring due to his solid all-around play. The 33-year-old center scored 37 goals over the last two seasons, so hopefully this performance is a sign of a return to form rather than a blip on the radar.
