Ondrej Palat has been named as a finalist for the Calder Trophy. Palat scored 23 goals and 59 points in 81 games in 2013-14. Those numbers are slightly below Nathan MacKinnon in the rookie leaderboard. Palat is the underdog in the fight between him and MacKinnon for the rookie of the year award, but it's worth noting that Palat did break out in the second half of the campaign with 44 points in his final 42 games.
