Montreal coach Michel Therrien believes that Tomas Plekanec deserves to be a contender for the Selke Trophy. "He should be a serious candidate for sure," Therrien said Monday. "He does so may good things on the ice. When we ask him to play against the other teams' top lines, he always does the job and he can contribute on offense too." Plekanec's line was tasked with holding Jonathan Toews, Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp in check on Saturday and even though that combination managed to score the Canadiens' shutdown trio of Plekanec, Brian Gionta and Travis Moen did a good job. Plekanec also had 11 shots on goal and a 56 percent success rate on faceoffs in the contest. He has 28 points and a plus-9 rating in 46 games.
