Chris Tanev is likely to get a sizable contract extension. Tanev is serving out a one-year, $1.5 million deal and is scheduled to become a restricted free agent. Canucks coach John Tortorella feels that Tanev has been his most consistent defenseman and is comfortable using him against the league's top players. The 24-year-old defenseman has 11 points and a plus-seven rating in 36 games this season.
