According to a report in the Swedish newspaper Helsingsborgs Dagblad, Andreas Lilja underwent hip surgery last week and could be out for four months. The surgery was performed to repair a degenerative condition that has been plaguing him for more than a year. Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren confirmed the procedure and says that the 37-year-old will "be ready in late October or early November," though Meszaros speculated he could be out until December. Even though Meszaros only played 46 games last year and this season may not start on time, it's still a blow to a depleted defense group, which has already lost Matt Carle to the Lighting and Andrej Mescaros to a torn Achilles'.
