Halak will be between the pipes for Friday's season opener against the Hurricanes, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports. After inking a four-year, $18 million contract with the Islanders in May, Halak will enter the season as an unquestioned starter for the first time in his career. Though Chad Johnson is a capable backup and could spell Halak on Saturday, when the Islanders and Hurricanes will match up in Long Island, it's apparent that the team intends to make Halak its workhorse. The goalie owns a 2.23 GAA and .930 save percentage over six career games against the Hurricanes, and should make for a reliable fantasy option Friday.
