Heatley (groin) will be placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports. Heatley hasn't skated since suffering the groin injury last week and can probably safely be ruled out for the Ducks' first two contests. The veteran winger was expected to open the season on the top line next to Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry to start the season, but the Ducks will have to table that plan temporarily while he remains out of commission. Matt Beleskey or Patrick Maroon could receive the appointment to the top line in the interim.
