Shaw will begin the season as the Blackhawks' second line center, CSN Chicago reports. The Hawks picked up Brad Richards in the offseason specifically to center the second line, but Shaw's play with that unit is forcing the team to reconsider. The trio of Shaw, Patrick Kane, and Brandon Saad were virtually unstoppable in last year's playoffs, and seem to have picked up right where they left off this preseason. The move also gives Chicago a potent third line of Richards, Bryan Bickell, and Kris Versteeg, so opposing teams will have to gameplan for three scoring lines. If Shaw starts to struggle, the team won't hesitate to move Richards up, but for now, Shaw has an opportunity to increase his production from a year ago.
