Boychuk was traded to the Islanders on Saturday in exchange for second-round picks in 2015 and 2016 and a conditional 2015 third-round pick, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports. The haul of picks is a steep price for the Islanders to pay for a 30-year-old with one year and $3.6 million remaining on his contract, but one the team could afford given its multitude of injuries on the blue line. Though Boychuk is only a marginal talent on the offensive end, it's his hard hitting and puck-clearing skills in front of his own net that should prove most beneficial to the Islanders. He should immediately assume a top-four role for the Islanders and make life easier for goalie Jaroslav Halak.
