Expectations are high in the coming season for forward Craig Smith of the Nashville Predators. Smith is one of the fastest skaters in the NHL and scouts throughout the league have expected high numbers from him in the past couple of years. Last season, he was solid with 24 goals for the Preds and 52 points in 79 games. In the coming season, though, his statistics could be sky-high. The reason? New Nashville coach Peter Laviolette, who is promising to implement a fast-paced, wide-open offensive system. Smith can take advantage and he's excited about Laviolette's arrival in Nashville. "He's a pretty high-octane, high-powered offensive coach," Smith said. "He wants to outscore the other team versus trying to win 1-0, so I like that type of run-and-gun style. . ."
