Brian Elliott thinks he has a "fair fight" on his hands for the starting gig in St. Louis. Elliott is expected to compete with Jake Allen after inking a three-year, $7.5 million contract. Allen is the guy the Blues want to see assume the job in the long-term, but Elliott probably has the inside track for the 2014-15 campaign, given his edge in experience. Elliott felt like the underdog in the battle against Jaroslav Halak and that was certainly the case during Ryan Miller's brief tenure, but Elliott thinks his new contract proves the Blues are willing to give him an opportunity to win the starting job. "I feel like I have been getting better my three years in St. Louis and I just want to continue that upward trend," Elliott said.
