Edmonton has put Eric Belanger on unconditional waivers with the purpose of buying out the remainder of his contract. He has one year left on his contract and was set to earn $1.25 million next season. Belanger's buyout will erase his $1.75 million cap hit from the Oilers salary cap. The veteran center didn't score a goal and had only three assists in 26 appearances last campaign.
