Varlamov allowed two goals on 22 shots before outlasting the Bruins in a 3-2 shootout win on Wednesday. Varly was clearly outperformed on the other end by the Bruins' Tuukka Rask (34 of 26 saves), but was good when he needed to be and perfect in the shootout to get Colorado back in the win column after two straight losses. A recent run of improved play has the Avalanche within three points of a playoff spot, so look for Varlamov to continue to build on his 2.66 GAA and .921 save percentage coming out of the All-Star break next week.
