Dubinsky underwent abdominal surgery Wednesday and will be out for approximately six weeks. Dubinsky's mysterious placement on injured reserve Tuesday finally has a concrete explanation behind it, as it appears the forward might have suffered the injury over the weekend. While the Blue Jackets are fortunate to have Ryan Johansen (contract dispute) back in the fold for Thursday's season opener, the absences of top-six forwards Dubinsky, Boone Jenner and Nathan Horton will force the team to rely on an armada of rookies to keep the offense humming in the early going.
