Vermette could sit out of Friday's preseason game while he tends to an undisclosed nagging injury, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports. The injury is considered minor and shouldn't put Vermette's chances of suiting up for the regular-season opener in peril. The 32-year-old will return to Arizona this season to center Mikkel Boedker and Shane Doan on the top line, but he won't provide the point production of some of the league's elite middle men. He does carry more value in specialty formats, however, where his prowess on the faceoff may be better rewarded.
