Staal (broken leg) will return to Raleigh and receive an evaluation from team doctors Thursday. The evaluation should clarify a firmer timetable for Staal's recovery, but it seems likely that he could miss multiple months after fracturing a bone in the lower half of his right leg Tuesday night. Staal was looking to rebound after he posted only 15 goals and 25 assists in 82 games last season, but the significant injury will hinder his chances of reemerging as a 50-point scorer.
