Jason Demers has signed a two-year, $6.8 million contract extension with the San Jose Sharks. With that, the Sharks and Demers have successfully avoided arbitration ahead of their July 22 hearing date. He's coming off of a breakout season where he scored five goals and 34 points in 75 games. The fact that it's a two-year deal makes a lot of sense for San Jose as it will give Demers a chance to prove that he's capable of continuing to perform at that level before they potentially make a long-term commitment.
