Jamie Benn proved over the course of the 2013-14 season that he was the right choice to captain the Dallas Stars. During the regular season, he set career bests in goals (34), assists (45) and points (79). Benn also helped Canada win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics, where he contributed despite originally being given a reduced role. He played very well during the Stars' first-round playoff loss to Anaheim, where he earned plenty of praise from the Ducks. "He's just a winner," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "He reminds me of those leaders like [Ryan] Getzlaf and [Jarome] Iginla that they'll not only play and do the right things, but they'll fight when they need to. And they do whatever it takes to win."
