Dolphins WRs coach Ken O'Keefe was new WR Marvin McNutt's offensive coordinator at Iowa.
A 2012 sixth-round pick of the Eagles, McNutt was claimed off waivers in May. Iowa's all-time leading receiver, McNutt can only be helped by the reunion with his college coach, but he's still going to have a hard time cracking Miami's improved receiver corps. McNutt is 6-foot-3, 213 pounds with 4.50 speed, but he'll need to focus on special teams in camp.

Dolphins claimed WR Marvin McNutt off waivers from the Eagles.
A 2012 sixth-rounder, McNutt couldn't make it past final cuts before being promoted from the practice squad for four games late in the season. McNutt has 4.50 wheels to go along with a 6-foot-3, 216-pound frame, but has the makings of a career special teamer/practice squader.

Eagles waived WR Marvin McNutt.
A sixth-round pick out of Iowa last year, McNutt started on the practice squad and then appeared in four late-season games. He made no catches as a rookie. Despite solid straight-line speed, McNutt never came close to pushing Riley Cooper or Jason Avant for backup wideout snaps.

Eagles promoted WR Marvin McNutt from the practice squad.
With Damaris Johnson replacing DeSean Jackson (ribs, injured reserve) in the starting lineup, McNutt will be in for a healthy dose of snaps on special teams and perhaps a handful on offense. He'll likely be held off the stat-sheet, however.

Eagles signed WRs Marvin McNutt and B.J. Cunningham to their practice squad.
McNutt passed through waivers unclaimed, confirming he's not especially highly regarded around the NFL. A sixth-round pick in April, McNutt caught one ball for 13 yards in the preseason. Cunningham, who was drafted by the Dolphins, had five catches for 38 yards in four exhibition games. McNutt is the better prospect.

Eagles waived WR Marvin McNutt, G/C Steve Vallos, S Phillip Thomas and FB Emil Igewanagu.
McNutt's release is a sign that the Eagles are confident in Riley Cooper's (collarbone) status for Week 1. They will roll with Cooper and possibly undrafted rook Damaris Johnson behind Jeremy Maclin, DeSean Jackson and Jason Avant. McNutt is a practice squad candidate.

Coach Andy Reid confirmed that the Eagles won't pursue a veteran wideout to replace Riley Cooper (broken collarbone).
While Cooper rehabs for the next six weeks, sixth-round rookie Marvin McNutt will get his chance. With a big camp, he could slip into the No. 4 wideout job behind Jeremy Maclin, DeSean Jackson and Jason Avant. McNutt has the size and hands to excel at the NFL level, but speed and quickness is a question mark.

Sixth-round WR Marvin McNutt caught "everything thrown in his direction" in the Eagles' offseason program.
McNutt is off to a good start in his quest for a roster spot, and should push Riley Cooper for the Eagles' No. 4 receiver job if his strong offseason carries over into camp. Cooper's blocking and special teams prowess might tilt the battle in his favor.
