The Raiders have released Burris, sfgate.com reports. Burris notched 109 tackles while starting all 16 games at middle linebacker for the Raiders last season, but the signing of Curtis Lofton along with the addition of Neiron Ball and Ben Heeney in the NFL draft squeezed Burris out of Oakland's LB mix.

Burris (hip) is officially active for Thursday's game against the Chiefs. The 26-year-old currently ranks third on the team in tackles with 69 (46 solo), but hasn't really shown up anywhere else on the stat sheet, failing to record a sack, a forced fumble or an interception thus far. He practiced in full Wednesday despite the hip issue.

Burris (hip) is probable for Thursday's game against the Chiefs, the Raiders' official site reports. It looks safe to roll with Burris -- who practiced fully Wednesday -- this week if he is one of your IDPs. The linebacker is averaging just a shade under seven tackles a game to date.

Burris was limited at Tuesday's practice due to a hip injury, John Dickinson of 95.7 The GAME reports. Burris was not listed on Monday's injury report, so it seems he picked up the injury during Tuesday's practice. Given the timing of his setback, Burris could sit out Thursday's game against the Chiefs, and it's possible a final decision on his status is not made until game day.

Burris recorded nine tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 23-13 loss to the Browns. The third-year linebacker has notched at least five stops in all but one game, resulting in a team-leading 48 tackles (34 solo) so far this season. With Nick Roach (concussion) out for the year, Burris will continue to start at middle linebacker for the Raiders, making him worthy of some IDP consideration in a bye-filled Week 9.

Burris was limited by a foot injury at practice Friday, but is still expected to play in Sunday's game against the Dolphins, ibabuzz.com reports. Burris is officially questionable for the game, but at this stage the report notes that he is expected to start at middle linebacker for the Raiders on Sunday.

Burris missed Wednesday's practice due to a foot injury that currently requires him to wear a heavy walking boot, CSN Bay Area reports. Burris' foot injury could potential leave the Raiders dangerously thin at linebacker for Sunday's game in London against the Dolphins. With Oakland already having starters Sio Moore (ankle) and Nick Roach (concussion) on the mend, Burris represented the team's final healthy reserve linebacker. However, if he's ruled out for this week, Kaluka Maiava and Bojay Filimoeatu would figure to start alongside rookie first-rounder Khalil Mack.

Burris notched a team-leading 13 tackles (eight solo) in last Sunday's loss to the Jets. Starting in place of the injured Nick Roach (concussion), the 26-year-old Burris tied his single-game career high in tackles. He recorded just four tackles (three solo) all of last season. While Burris appears in line for another start Sunday against Houston, with Roach still not cleared for contact as of Friday, his role will be scaled back upon Roach's eventual return.

Burris will start Sunday in place of Nick Roach, who is inactive due to a concussion, according to Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune. Burris gets the start ahead of Kaluka Maiava, although both players are expected to share time while Roach is sidelined.
