Redskins waived RB/FB Keiland Williams and TE Emmanuel Ogbuehi. Williams was a core special teamer, but didn't offer enough value on offense to be carried over Evan Royster. Williams' release also gives big-play rookie Chris Thompson a chance to make the 53 despite his preseason fumbles.

Redskins signed FB Keiland Williams. Williams is an upgrade on Ryan Grant thanks to his versatility. He'll help on special teams, can do some lead blocking and can even be a power back in a pinch. Williams knows the scheme after spending the 2010 season in Washington.

Lions waived FB Keiland Williams. Williams had been activated ahead of a healthy Kevin Smith in Week 6, so this is a sign that the staff still has a sliver of faith in Smith. Regardless, a roster spot was needed for secondary help as Bill Bentley (shoulder) and Jacob Lacey (concussion) are both in doubt for Week 7.

Keiland Williams carried the ball eight times for 27 yards in Friday's preseason game against the Ravens, adding three catches for 26 yards. Three of Williams' touches came with Matthew Stafford still in the game. Williams' stat-line wasn't as impressive as Joique Bell's, who carried the ball five times for 35 yards while reeling in three catches for 44 yards, but Bell didn't play a down until third-stringer Kellen Moore was in the game. Bell also committed a huge mistake in the fourth, losing a fumble near the goal-line at the end of a 20-yard run. Williams, who has 17 totes for 98 yards this preseason, is ahead of Bell for No. 4 duties. Bell has carried the ball 21 times for 124 yards. Neither player had a catch in the opener.

Keiland Williams, Joique Bell and Stephon Green will likely battle for one running back spot at training camp.

Keiland Williams rushed 12 times for 43 yards and added two catches for 17 yards in the Lions' Week 14 win over the Vikings. With Maurice Morris limited severely by a chest injury, Williams handled the feature back job for the majority of three quarters. He got what was blocked, but the 230-pounder has no explosion or burst. Only the most desperate of owners should consider an add heading into next week's game at Oakland. Morris' injury does not appear serious.

Keiland Williams rushed two times for 14 yards in Sunday's loss to the Saints, adding one catch for seven yards. Williams' limited use is noteworthy because it came on a night where Kevin Smith aggravated his ankle injury early in the second half. Maurice Morris carried the load after Smith went down. Although Williams will undoubtedly be in line for more touches if Smith can't give it a go in Week 14, he's an extremely low-upside flier in all formats.

Keiland Williams rushed two times for 18 yards with a touchdown and added four catches for 33 yards in Thursday's loss to the Packers. Williams only got significant snaps in this one thanks to Kevin Smith's ankle injury. He tore through a gaping hole in the fourth quarter for a 16-yard score, but played behind Maurice Morris. If Smith's sprain proves to be serious, Williams will function as the power back behind Morris in Week 13.

Keiland Williams rushed nine times for 44 yards against the Falcons in Week 7. Williams handled feature-back work in the second quarter after Maurice Morris did the same in the first. The two backs essentially split snaps and touches down the middle, though Williams never got a shot at goal-line work. He's not an attractive fantasy option against the Broncos in Week 8.

Keiland Williams and Maurice Morris shared first-team reps at Lions practice Wednesday. They're essentially competing for snaps on Sunday with Jahvid Best (concussion) not expected to play. Ronnie Brown hasn't joined practice yet, but is expected to do so Thursday after passing his physical. Morris is slated to draw the start against the Falcons, but he's going to be a timeshare back in Week 7.
