Griffen is away from the Vikings after mental health and law enforcement officials were called to his residence Wednesday afternoon, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Griffen was "transported (to where he can get) to the necessary resources and professionals that he needs to be with," said Vikings general manager Rick Spielman.
EDGE Analysis
Griffen posted a disturbing video on social media early Wednesday morning and called 911 to report a possible intruder, according to the Pioneer Press. No intruder was found in his home after local law enforcement officials and mental health officials responded, and Griffen was later transported by ambulance to a health care facility.

Griffen got the start at defensive end opposite Danielle Hunter and had two sacks, three QB hits and four tackles in Sunday's win over Detroit. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer had said Griffen would come off the bench, but he elevated to him as a starter over D,J. Wonnum due to his recent play, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Griffen played on a season-high 49 of the defense's 68 snaps. He had before been thought of as a situation pass rusher, but he's getting playing time on all downs. Still, he may share the role with Wonnum (who had 40 snaps) to keep both fresh.

Griffen (concussion) didn't practice Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Griffen wasn't on the injury report Wednesday, so he likely picked up the injury in practice. If he's placed in the league's concussion protocol, Griffen will need to clear it prior to Sunday's road tilt in Arizona to be eligible to suit up.

Griffen had a QB hit and QB hurry, according to Pro Football Focus, but no tackles in Sunday's overtime loss at Cincinnati.

Griffen played on 28 of the defense's 69 snaps as he'll be used primarily on passing downs. While he may have less playing time than in his prime, he still looks capable of having an impact in the pass rush.

The Vikings re-signed Griffen on Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
After spending the first 10 years of his career with Minnesota, Griffen split time between Dallas and Detroit last season, totaling 33 tackles and six sacks in 14 games. The tackle count matched his low for a campaign since 2013, and he only failed to hit six sacks once since that season. Griffen bided his time this offseason and finally reunited with the Vikings on Aug. 23, but he also was among the cuts the team made to get down to 53 players Tuesday. After two days (officially) as a free agent, Griffen finds himself employed and in a rotation of pass rushers with Danielle Hunter, Stephen Weatherly and D.J. Wonnum.

Griffin was released by the Vikings on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Griffen reunited with the Vikings just a week ago, joining a sturdy set of defensive ends. This move may have been made to provide the Vikings with roster flexibility, and Griffen could re-sign with the team after the initial 53-man roster is finalized. Last year, the 33-year-old posted 33 tackles, six sacks and four pass breakups across 14 games.
