His 2012 season was marred by concussions, and he hasn't been the same player since starting 24 games between the 2010-11 campaigns.

Charges against Lions S Amari Spievey of third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, and risk of injury to a child were dropped in a Connecticut court Friday. The charges stemmed from Spievey's March 26 arrest following a dispute with his girlfriend. "He and his girlfriend are back together again and everything's resolved," said Spievey's attorney, Michael Dowley. "Everything's completed and everything's fine. He's really looking forward to the season with Lions."

GM Martin Mayhew says the Lions are taking a "wait-and-see approach" with restricted free agent SS Amari Spievey (concussions). "Yeah, I think it's just the total package of everything he's dealt with," Mayhew said. "He obviously was a good player for us when he was healthy, but we'll have to take a wait-and-see approach on that." Mayhew's choice of tense - past - isn't a good sign for Spievey's Lions future.
