Norwood was targeted 35 times in 2016, tallying 21 catches, 232 yards and a touchdown. He returned 25 punts for 204 yards and another three kicks for 65 yards.

EDGE Analysis

Norwood's punt returning ability was an asset during the Broncos' Super Bowl run, and he even set a Super Bowl record for longest punt return. That element of his game became a liability in 2016 as he fumbled five times down the stretch, losing three. Two of those losses came in Denver's overtime defeat against the Chiefs in Week 13. Norwood was the Broncos' third most prolific wide receiver in 2016, a title that carries little weight given his competition. Based on his issues with ball security in 2016 and younger options available, it wouldn't be a surprise if Norwood's days in Denver are over.

EDGE Analysis

It was Norwood's third game with at least three catches, no other Denver back-up receiver has more than one such game. The No. 3 receiver job in Denver doesn't mean what it used to during the Manning years, now with an inexperienced quarterback and more conservative play-caller in Gary Kubiak, but Norwood also showed in Week 9 in Oakland that the job can still be met with the occasional big play or touchdown.

Norwood tallied five catches on seven targets for 39 yards, 46 yards on two kick returns and 16 yards on a pair of punt returns in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Chargers.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran was surprisingly second on the Broncos with seven targets, which also represented his season best in that category by far. Norwood's modest 39-yard output was also a high-water mark on the campaign, but it's important to note that the added involvement came on a night when Trevor Siemian threw a career-high 50 passes. Norwood has failed to record a catch in two other contests this season, so his limited fantasy value will continue to mainly stem from his special teams work.

Norwood snagged two of three targets for 24 yards in Sunday's loss to Atlanta.

EDGE Analysis

Norwood remains in a battle for the Broncos' No. 3 receiver job with Bennie Fowler, still nursing an elbow injury, his primary competitor. In the three weeks since Fowler's return, Norwood has had the upper hand with four total catches off of seven targets for 48 yards as compared to Fowler's three catches off of six targets for 26 yards

Norwood converted both of his targets for 25 total yards in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.

EDGE Analysis

Norwood returned to the thick of the action on Sunday after being held catchless in Week 3. Norwood has been far from dynamic thus far this season, with just five catches to his name, but with no established No. 3 receiver in Denver that total is good for fifth best on the team and third among receivers. Assuming he can hold off Cody Latimer and Benny Fowler as the season progresses, Norwood could carve out a small role for himself as Trevor Siemian and/or Paxton Lynch improve.

Norwood (concussion) was absent from Wednesday's injury report.

EDGE Analysis

Norwood was knocked out of the Broncos' season opening win over the Panthers win with a head injury. His absence from the injury report seems to indicate he has cleared the league's concussion protocol.

It appears the injury occurred while he was run blocking on a Devontae Booker rush. His status going forward will depend on his concussion evaluation. If he cannot return, Jordan Taylor would presumably slide in on five-receiver sets, while Emmanuel Sanders will likely take over punt returning duties.

Norwood caught four of six passes for 30 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the 49ers.

EDGE Analysis

The top of the Broncos' receiver depth chart is fairly set with Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Cody Latimer and - when healthy - Bennie Fowler. Norwood continues to get looks - tying fellow competitor Jordan Taylor for the team lead with six targets - but he isn't getting the bump in value that he is supposed to as a returner. Denver's coaching staff has, instead, focused on giving younger players opportunities to return kicks this preseason with Norwood having yet to make a return.

Norwood has agreed to a one-year deal with the Broncos, Mike Klis of 9News reports.

EDGE Analysis

Norwood caught 22 balls for 207 yards without a touchdown in 2015 for the Broncos in 11 games, as he was limited by a hamstring injury in October and November. Expect him to occupy a similar role in Denver in 2016, as he won't be challenging Demaryius Thomas nor Emmanuel Sanders for a top role in the Broncos offense.

Norwood (hamstring) is inactive Sunday against the Chiefs.

EDGE Analysis

Norwood hasn't played since Week 6, though after putting in a full practice on Friday, it was looking as if he may have been on track to play. Look for Denver to continue to rotate their backup receivers to pick up the slack in Norwood's absence.
