Jones announced his retirement Thursday, ESPN.com's Michael DiRocco reports. Working primarily as a fullback after being drafted out of Florida State in 2004, Jones amassed only 913 yards and 10 touchdowns during his 10-year career. Jones paved the way for both Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew while spending most of his career in Jacksonville, with his efforts allowing Jones-Drew to claim the NFL rushing yardage title in 2011.

The Saints have signed Jones, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Jones gives the Saints added depth at fullback, with the report noting that Erik Lorig has been away from practice for the last several days.

Free agent FB Greg Jones is visiting the Falcons. Jones, 33 next month, has paved the way for the likes of Fred Taylor, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Arian Foster the past decade. He was Pro Football Focus' No. 8 lead blocker last season. Atlanta's in the market for an upgrade on Patrick DiMarco.

Texans agreed to terms with FB Greg Jones, formerly of the Jaguars, on a one-year contract. Jones was the lead blocker in Jacksonville the past nine seasons, paving the way for Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor. He'll be Arian Foster's fourth fullback in as many seasons. Jones played just 246 snaps last season, which was 20th among fullbacks. Jones turns 32 in May, but Pro Football Focus graded him as a top-three lead blocker in each of the past three years. The beat will go on for Foster.

Free agent FB Greg Jones will visit the Texans Tuesday. After losing James Casey to the Eagles in free agency, the Texans are on the hunt for Arian Foster's lead blocker once again. They moved on from Vonta Leach after 2010 and replaced Lawrence Vickers following the 2011 season, but haven't missed a beat in the running game. Jones graded out as ProFootballFocus' No. 3 blocking fullback last season, behind only Leach and Rhett Ellison.

The Jaguars are interested in bringing back free agent FB Greg Jones. The new coaching staff says there is room for a fullback in the offense, and the Florida Times Union says Jones could be re-signed later this week before free agency opens. Coach Gus Bradley saw FB Michael Johnson go to the Pro Bowl while the two were with the Seahawks in 2011.

Jaguars FB Greg Jones (thigh) is expected to return to the lineup this week against the Bills. Jones' Week 8 injury was initially described as a "bruise," but he's calling it a strain. The 31-year-old is one of the league's top fullbacks, so his return could help spark an ailing run game. Will Ta'ufo'ou has been getting the reps at fullback during Jones' absence.

Rookie Greg Jones is expected to remain the Giants' starting middle linebacker going forward. Jones managed four tackles in Week 1, leaving the field on passing downs and playing just over 50 percent of the snaps. The Giants were pleased with Jones' run defense, however, and Pro Football Focus gave him a top-15 run-stopping inside linebacker grade in the opener. Jones' role figures to grow so long as his performance doesn't tail off. He's about an LB4 in IDP leagues.
