Eddie Royal WR SD 21 Hrs

Royal had four catches on six targets for 42 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Bills.

After a dreadful one-catch, 20-yard performance in Week 1, Royal has been targeted 16 times in the last two games. He's getting more looks than Malcom Floyd, though the latter finished with 98 yards Sunday. Keenan Allen struggled Sunday, but still has more fantasy upside than Royal, who gets most of his looks on short passes and rarely in the red zone, aside from Sunday's output.

Royal pulled down seven passes (10 targets) for 69 yards in Sunday's 30-21 win over Seattle.

Royal rebounded from a terrible game in Week 1, getting targeted the most of any pass catcher on San Diego. He made a number of tough grabs, and the Chargers seemed intent on throwing him short passes to let him work in open space. Keenan Allen and Antonio Gates, who caught three touchdowns Sunday, are still ahead of Royal in the receiving pecking order, however.

Royal had one catch on six target for 20 yards in the Chargers' loss at Arizona on Monday night.

Royal had a rather disappointing game which included at least one blatant drop which would have resulted in a key first down. On the bright side, his six targets tied Malcolm Floyd for second amongst wide receivers (behind Keenan Allen), so he at least appears to be right in the mix for touches going forward.

Royal was not targeted in Sunday's preseason game against the 49ers.

Royal, who returned a punt for five yards in the contest, is listed behind Keenan Allen and (a now healthy Malcom Floyd) on the Chargers' posted depth chart, but on the heels of a 2013 season in which he caught 47 passes for 631 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games, he remains in line to do some damage out of the slot in the team's offense and thus a candidate to provide utility in deeper formats.

The toe injury that plagued Eddie Royal last season is completely healed.

Royal injured his toe in Week 6 last year and ended up only missing one game, but barely practiced. He's since gotten healthy and restructured his contract, ensuring he'll be a role player for Philip Rivers once again. Fantasy owners shouldn't be betting on anything close to the fluky eight touchdowns Royal scored last year, leaving him off the standard-league fantasy radar.

Chargers WR Eddie Royal has restructured his contract.

Royal was previously scheduled to earn a $4.5 million base salary and count $6 million against the cap in the final year of his deal. It's likely he took a straight pay cut and will be given the opportunity to earn the difference back in incentives. Royal is coming off a solid year that saw him reel in eight touchdowns, but he's ideally nothing more than a No. 3 or 4 receiver who can help as a return man.

When asked about Eddie Royal's $4.5 million salary, GM Tom Telesco said, "we've got a decision to make on a number of guys."

ESPN Chargers reporter Eric Williams says Eddie Royal is "looking good" to stick on the 2014 roster.

Royal is owed $4.5 million in 2014, so he's certainly a cap casualty candidate. The good news for him is that the Chargers are desperate for wideout help behind No. 1 Keenan Allen. Vincent Brown barely flashed in his big chance, Malcom Floyd is coming off a serious neck injury and oft-injured Danario Alexander is a free agent. Royal caught 47 passes for 631 yards with a fluky eight touchdowns.

Eddie Royal caught one pass for 30 yards in San Diego's Divisional Round playoff loss to the Broncos.

The Broncos used Champ Bailey at slot corner between Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Chris Harris, meaning Bailey frequently matched up with Royal around the line of scrimmage. Royal is owed $4.5 million in 2014, too much for his limited skill set. The ex-Bronco will be an offseason cap casualty candidate.

Eddie Royal (toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday's Divisional Round game.

Despite the "Q" tag, Royal is expected to play and start in Sunday evening's bout with Denver. He recently passed Vincent Brown on the depth chart.
