While the former second-round pick never developed into an impact pass-rusher, Groves is a serviceable reserve who excels on special teams. He has a legit shot at the 53-man roster.

Groves, 30 next month, spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons with new Titans DC Ray Horton in Arizona and Cleveland, respectively. In Tennessee, he'd be a rotational edge player and contribute mostly on special teams. Mitchell, 29, appeared in all 16 games (starting ten) for the Vikings last season.

Free agent OLB Quentin Groves visited the Patriots on Wednesday, and will visit the Redskins on Thursday. Groves was released by the Browns last Friday and turns 30 next month. He has 8.5 career sacks across six seasons, with six of them coming the past two years. Groves' contributes mostly on special teams and in sub-packages.

Groves, 30 next month, recorded four tackles and two sacks across 53 defensive snaps last season before landing on injured reserve with an ankle injury in November. Second-year OLB Barkevious Mingo will serve as the No. 3 edge rusher behind Paul Kruger and Jabaal Sheard. Grant was just signed last month.

Browns placed OLB Quentin Groves (ankle) on injured reserve, ending his season. Groves originally went down in Week 2 and then came back to play in three more games, but his ankle isn't right. The situational pass rusher will undergo surgery and finish his first year in Cleveland with just four tackles and two sacks. Groves signed a two-year, $2.28 million contract with the Browns back in March.

Browns OLB Quentin Groves is out 4-6 weeks with a high left ankle sprain. His absence will just mean more snaps for explosive first-rounder Keke Mingo behind Jabaal Sheard and Paul Kruger. Groves is an injured reserve candidate.

Quentin Groves left Sunday's Week 2 loss to the Ravens early with an ankle injury. Groves went down while covering the second-half kickoff and did not return. X-rays were negative, but he left the stadium in a walking boot and using crutches. First-round rookie Barkevious Mingo stepped in and shined.
