Ex-Bills and Jets WR David Clowney is playing in the CFL this season. Clowney hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since 2010, and couldn't make it past final cuts with the Bills last season. Clowney recently had a neck scare in a Montreal Alouettes preseason game, but was diagnosed with only a stringer. Clowney's CFL career is ready to move forward, but his NFL days are over.

The Bills were looking for speed when they signed Clowney to a reserve/future contract last month, and he apparently still has plenty of it heading into his age-27 season. His problem has always been his hands, however. Clowney is a longshot to crack the Bills' 53-man roster after going unsigned in 2011.

Fellow free agent WRs Juaquin Iglesias and Donnie Avery will work out Wednesday. One of the three should take Kenny Britt's spot on the active roster by tomorrow evening.

Panthers released or waived WR David Clowney, SS Kevin Payne, DE Thomas Keiser, and OL Bryant Browning. A deep threat with bad hands, Clowney's biggest NFL impact has been on special teams. He lost his roster spot when the Panthers picked up Seyi Ajirotutu Sunday. Payne spent last year out of football while rehabbing a preseason knee injury.
