Thad Lewis was sent for X-rays following Sunday's Week 6 overtime loss to the Bengals and his right foot is in a walking boot. Lewis played the entire game but was noticeably limping a bit in the second half. The Bills can ill afford to lose Lewis, who was promoted from the practice squad to make the start against Cincinnati in the wake of E.J. Manuel's (knee) injury. Lewis accounted for three touchdowns Sunday, turning the ball over just one time on a lost fumble. The Bills travel to Miami in Week 7.

Bills OC Nathaniel Hackett said he expects Thad Lewis to run the team's "full offensive package." Lewis was signed off the practice squad this week, but the Bills don't plan to make any drastic changes to their play-calling with him at quarterback. "I was blown away when I first started talking to him," Hackett said. "He's been in this kind of system before. I think he's not going to have any setbacks from the mental standpoint. We're going to keep on doing what we're doing and see how he can execute that."

Bills signed QB Thaddeus Lewis and WR Tommy Streeter to the practice squad. Lewis was among the Bills' final cuts, but will presumably get the first call if they decide to add an arm behind E.J. Manuel and Jeff Tuel. Lewis has attempted 32 career passes.

Bills waived or released QB Thaddeus Lewis, LB Bryan Scott, DE Jamie Blatnick, DE Izaan Cross and DT Torell Troup. Lewis' release means the Bills are going with just Jeff Tuel and E.J. Manuel at quarterback. That seems like a disaster waiting to happen with Manuel still recovering from his knee scope, but perhaps the Bills are planning another move. Scott's release was reported yesterday before being rescinded. It's now official. Troup missed all of 2012 with a back injury, and may never be the same again.

Bills acquired QB Thaddeus Lewis from the Lions in exchange for undisclosed considerations. He wasn't going to make the Lions' roster behind Matthew Stafford, Shaun Hill, and Kellen Moore. Lewis will be a practice arm in Buffalo as the Bills attempt to nurse Kevin Kolb and E.J. Manuel back to health. He'll probably be waived at final cuts. Lewis is a somewhat athletic former UDFA out of Duke.

Lions claimed QB Thaddeus Lewis off waivers from the Browns Lewis joins the QB group of Shaun Hill, Kellen Moore and rookie Alex Carder behind Mathew Stafford in Detroit. Lewis' arrival could spell the end for Moore, who lacks an NFL skill set.

Browns waived QB Thaddeus Lewis. The writing was on the wall after the Browns signed Brian Hoyer. Lewis is a favorite of former Browns coach and current Eagles OC Pat Shurmur, but Philly has a logjam at quarterback. Lewis started for the Browns in Week 17 last season, completing 22-of-32 passes for 204 yards, one touchdown and a pick. He should latch on elsewhere and compete for No. 3 duties.

Browns QB Thaddeus Lewis is not expected to make the 53-man roster. Perhaps the Pat Shurmur favorite will resurface with Shurmur in Philly, where they are collecting QBs. The Browns don't believe Lewis' arm is strong enough for Rob Chudzinski's vertical passing attack, even to function as a backup. Brandon Weeden, Jason Campbell, and Brian Hoyer are ahead of him on the depth chart.

ESPN Cleveland calls QB Thaddeus Lewis the "square peg" with the Browns. Lewis doesn't have the arm strength to run the vertical scheme new coach Rob Chudzinski will implement. If the Browns let him walk, former Browns head coach Pat Shurmur could come calling. Shurmur has landed on his feet as the offensive coordinator for Chip Kelly in Philadelphia.
